Celebrating Five Years of Flavor and Fun
The Fort Worth Syndicate BBQ Smokedown & Music Festival is back and bigger than ever, marking its fifth anniversary with a feast of flavors and music set against the backdrop of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Scheduled for April 18, 2026, this beloved event promises a delightful blend of the best barbeque Texas has to offer and a vibrant music lineup that draws thousands of attendees each spring.
Savoring Local BBQ Legends
This year, the festival organizers have curated a mouthwatering selection of over 20 renowned pitmasters, many of whom hail from North Texas. Notable names participating include local gems like Panther City BBQ and Olmos BBQ, as well as award-winning figures recognized by the Michelin Guide and the James Beard Foundation. These culinary experts will serve up complimentary BBQ samplings from Noon to 4 p.m., an experience designed to engage the palate and celebrate the rich flavors of Texas barbecue.
Music that Spices Up the Day
As the afternoon BBQ tastings conclude, the festivities will shift to the main stage featuring acclaimed artists such as Whiskey Myers and Randy Rogers Band, alongside Nashville's own Amanda Shires. This diverse musical lineup promises to keep festivalgoers entertained while they indulge in the tasty offerings, crafting an atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Texas.
A Competition for the Ages
In addition to the sensational BBQ selections and musical performances, a BBQ competition sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA) will see over 100 teams—both professional and amateur—competing for a prize purse exceeding $20,000. As one of Texas’s richest single-day BBQ contests, this event not only showcases culinary excellence but also contributes to the local tradition of community and competition.
Supporting Texas Youth: A Mission-Driven Event
At its core, the Syndicate Smokedown serves a vital community mission. 100% of the net proceeds are invested into the Jim Bob Norman Scholarship Fund, which supports Texas youth involved in agriculture through the FFA and 4-H programs. Since its inception, the festival has awarded over $3.5 million in scholarships, aligning every ticket purchase with a positive impact on young Texans pursuing careers in agriculture.
The Growing Festival Experience
This year’s festival is set to attract over 10,000 attendees, expanding its footprint to accommodate the growing interest. Festival director Andy Eldridge emphasizes the importance of the festival not just as an entertainment venue, but as a gathering for the community to support a cause that cultivates future leaders in Texas.
