Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes and CeeDee Lamb delivered a dominant performance as the Dallas Cowboys earned their first victory of the season with a 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium.
Dallas established control immediately.
Prescott moved the Cowboys efficiently on the opening possession, connecting with George Pickens and Lamb before finding Lamb in the end zone for the game's first touchdown. Brandon Aubrey added a field goal on Dallas' second possession, giving the Cowboys a 10-0 advantage.
Washington answered with a field goal, but Prescott kept the Dallas offense moving.
Jake Ferguson became the next beneficiary, slipping open in the end zone for a touchdown that extended the Cowboys' advantage. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels responded with several productive drives, using both his arm and mobility to challenge the Dallas defense.
The Commanders eventually reached the end zone, but the first half ended on a troubling note when Daniels was injured on the final play. He was carted from the field and did not return, leaving veteran Marcus Mariota to take over after halftime.
Mariota immediately provided Washington with a spark.
A deep completion to Dyami Brown initially appeared to produce a touchdown before the ruling went against Washington, forcing the Commanders to settle for a 47-yard field goal.
Dallas answered with another Aubrey field goal before its defense produced one of the game's pivotal plays.
A completed pass from Mariota ended with the football being knocked loose, and the Cowboys recovered. Prescott quickly capitalized, fitting a pass to Ferguson for his second touchdown reception of the game.
Washington continued competing behind Mariota, who used his legs to extend drives and later found Stefon Diggs in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown that kept the Commanders within striking distance.
Dallas responded almost immediately.
Prescott first connected with Lamb on a sharply thrown pass before taking another deep shot to his top receiver. Lamb adjusted to the football against tight coverage and hauled it in for his second touchdown.
The play effectively put the game away.
Lamb finished with eight receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns, consistently creating problems for Washington's secondary. Ferguson added two touchdown catches of his own as Prescott repeatedly took advantage of favorable matchups.
Aubrey also contributed another impressive performance, including a 60-yard field goal that continued his remarkable success from long distance.
Dallas' defense had its share of difficult moments, particularly against Daniels' running ability and Mariota's second-half improvisation, but it also generated the turnover that helped the Cowboys create separation.
Prescott finished the afternoon with four touchdown passes while directing an offense that scored on its first two possessions and continued producing explosive plays throughout the game.
For Dallas, the 37-20 victory provided an encouraging response after opening the season with a loss. The Cowboys combined Prescott's efficiency, Lamb's playmaking and timely defensive stops to secure their first win of the year against a longtime NFC East rival.
